Celebrate Your Uniqueness collage-984986_1280

Celebrating your uniqueness is about realising that you are a one off. There has never been nor will there ever be another quite like you.

If that is the case, why is so much time spent trying to be like others or continually comparing yourself to others?

This habit of comparing and then feeling less than good enough is commonplace yet it is in conflict with who you truly are. It is time to embrace and celebrate your uniqueness. Claim your space, acknowledge your gift and know that your contribution is every bit as important as the next person. It is the diversity of what each person brings to the table that makes life wondrous.

Here are some really great quotes about being you, your unique self:

“All my life I had been looking for something, and everywhere I turned someone tried to tell me what it was. I accepted their answers too, though they were often in contradiction and even self-contradictory. I was naïve. I was looking for myself and asking everyone except myself questions which I, and only I, could answer. It took me a long time and much painful boomeranging of my expectations to achieve a realisation everyone else appears to have been born with: that I am nobody but myself.” Ralph Ellison

“Most people are other people. Their thoughts are someone else’s opinions, their lives a mimicry, their passions a quotation .” Oscar Wilde

That is such a powerful quote ‘ most people are other people ‘. Take time and stop to think about it. How much of what you think, feel and do is of your own choosing? And how much of it is from copying or trying to be like someone you are not?

When you decide to be you in all your greatness you will no longer be ‘other people’. When you recognise you have a wealth of talents and skills that are yours alone, you will no longer crave someone else’s.

So stop comparing and putting down who you are and start living! The moment you decide to live your life through your eyes the insecurities of never being enough and never having enough will dissipate.

Remember this:

“At bottom, every man knows well enough that he is a unique being, only once on this earth; and by no extraordinary chance will such a marvellously picturesque piece of diversity in unity as he is, ever be put together a second time.” Friedrich Nietzsche
